Music Chairman’s Welcome

The BIFF mission is “to enable participation in the Performing Arts”. RWBAF aims to do this through “Arts” being taught, practiced and performed in Royal Wootton Bassett and the surrounding areas. There is something for everyone to demonstrate their skills in the adjudicated classes, workshops, concerts and other events.

We hope you will all enjoy presenting your work, engaging with the spirit of the Festival,
and will leave enriched by your experience. Once again we are helping the local Rotary
Clubs to find eligible solo singers, instrumentalists and pianists for the Rotary Young
Musicians Competition.

In 2014, we included a special section in the Syllabus to mark the centenary of the start of WW1. For 2018, we expect that there will be many events marking the end of WW1 with the likely climax at 11.00am on Sunday 11th November 2018. We ask you to think of this when choosing and entering your pieces

The 2018 Autumn Concert Project will celebrate St.Cecilia and include other music
performed during the year in the Festival and other local events. This year, we are inviting Singers, Choirs and Instrumentalists from the Summer Festival and from the local area to take part. The Concert will be on Saturday evening 17th November 2018 at The Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, High Street, Royal Wootton Bassett.

RWBAF liaises with teachers, organisations, schools, churches, and businesses with
particular support from the Area Board, the Royal Wootton Bassett Town Council, St.
Batholomew’s Church, the Memorial Hall, Community Magazine, the Methodist Church,
the Royal Wootton Bassett Academy and G4S, Wiltshire Council’s Library and other
services. We are indebted to them for their valuable support to enable us to extend such
opportunities to our community to develop their educational skills, and keep the arts alive for succeeding generations.

Don’t forget the RWBAF Speech & Drama Festival if you enjoy Acting, Poetry, Public
Speaking, Reading and much more. It’s at RWB Academy on the weekend of 17th and 18th November 2018. The Classical Guitar Day will be there too on the 17th November.

The Syllabus will be available to download early in January.
