Music Chairman’s Welcome

2020 is the first year that the whole RWB Arts Festival Music Family will be together at the same time. Classical Guitar will join all the other musical disciplines for a wonderful weekend of musical performances on Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd November.

This year we are introducing new Ukulele and Acoustic Guitar classes for Beginners, Intermediates and Advanced performers as well as Ensemble classes for Ukulele, Acoustic Guitar and Mandolin.

2020 will be the 250th Anniversary of the birth of Ludwig van Beethoven. RWBAF would like to honour this occasion by introducing a NEW Major Award which will be called the BEETHOVEN ANNIVERSARY AWARD. This will be open to all performers in the Music section that enter 4 separate classes. These classes could be all within one discipline such as Piano or Singing or a combination of different disciplines. All four marks will be added together and the person with the highest mark will be presented with the award.

Meanwhile in the vocal classes, remember our Own Choice classes gives you the freedom to share your Songs from Shows and Films, Art Song, Operetta, Songs in a Foreign Language, Opera or whatever takes your fancy.

This year sees the introduction of new Mixed Instrument Duet classes. Come together with a friend or relative to combine your musical talents in classes MID1, MID2 and MID3.

Across the Festival you will find our ‘Novice’ classes designed to offer those new to performing the opportunity to enjoy the Festival experience in a relaxed atmosphere.

At the other end of the scale we are also introducing a ‘Professional’ class aimed particularly at music teachers. As a teacher why not challenge yourself and gain valuable feedback from our seasoned adjudicator – we feel this would be a wonderful class to share with our fellow professionals.

Whatever your level of experience, RWBAF has a class which will suit you and I look forward to meeting you there,

Mrs. Miranda Shirnia
