‘Festival showcases Wootton Bassett’s finest talent’

‘Delighted organisers of Wootton Bassett’s Art Festival have vowed to hold the event again next year after a successful weekend.

The four-day festival, which kicked off on Thursday, showcased the town’s finest talent in categories including music, speech, drama and creative writing.

Chairman of the committee Janet Chaplin said she was blown away by the popularity of the this year’s festival, which attracted almost 500 entries in 81 classes.

She said: “This festival has been an explosion of fun and talent”‘.

Wootton Bassett ‘Raring up for festival’

Songs are being rehearsed and paintbrushes cleaned as Wootton Bassett makes the final preparations for its new Music and Arts Festival.

Over 100 entries have been received for the competitive festival. Next Friday will see the launch of the festival with the arrival of international cricketer and artist Jack Russell at the Memorial Hall.

The evening starts at 8pm and ex-wicketkeeper Russell will be hosting a question and answer session as well as exhibiting some of his paintings.

Wootton Bassett Arts Festival ‘needs groups’

Local organisations and community groups are being invited to join Wootton Bassett’s festivities when the town re-launches its Music and Arts Festival next month.

The competitive festival will run from July 22 to 24 at the Memorial Hall and will include a range of different music and art competitions.

Wootton Bassett: ‘Ideas build up for new town arts festival’

Quizzes, singing competitions and even a cider fest are some of the ingredients that could make up the return of a music and arts festival to Wootton Bassett in June.

Festival committee member Kerrie Dixon said: “We want to make the festival different from anything else that’s going on and for it not to overlap with things like the High Street Festival or the Carnival.
